Peaceful anti-war
#JeSuisDonbass assembly in front of CBC/Radio Canada's Montreal offices this Saturday (31/01/2015)
With the civil war in Donbass (Eastern Ukraine) intensifying, local pro- peace, anti-war activists from Montreal are planning a rally near CBC/Radio Canada's offices this coming Saturday, January 31, 2015.
(Montreal, Quebec) - Amidst the intensification of armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine, at a time when the Ukrainian government claims that it's not fighting with civilians, every day tenths of civilians die and hundreds more are being wounded due to the Ukrainian army's indiscriminate shelling of cities and towns in Donbass region. Weapons that were banned by international conventions, such as cluster and phosphorous bombs are being utilized against the civilian population of Donbass. At the same time the Conservative government of Stephen Harper is providing military aid to the Ukrainian army, paid with our Canadian taxpayers money.
Canadian and international mass media's coverage of the conflict is generally one-sided, with the blame being shifted squarely in the direction of Russia, Donetsk and Lugansk Peoples Republics. Facts are being twisted or hidden from the general public. The downed MH17 flight, last year's tragedy in Odessa and the recent shelling of a trolleybus station in Donetsk disappeared from media coverage despite the fact that those responsible for those tragedies were never identified.
The anti-war, pro-peace citizens of Montreal have organized a peaceful rally of support for Donbass with the goal of bringing the mass media's and general public's attention to this problem, with the goal of stopping indiscriminate attacks against civilians and ending the civil war in Ukraine.
The rally took place from 13:00 to 14:00 on Saturday, January 31, 2015 near CBC/Radio Canada's offices at 1400 Rene Levesque Est in Montreal under the slogan #JeSuisDonbass. It was authorized by the Montreal Police. https://www.facebook.com/groups/russi...
